                                           Session 2

We began the session with a talk from TTA on the set and the costume, each member of the team introduced them selfs and also explained there input to the set and costume. We started with set and the team had created a small replacer of what the set was going to look like. It was inspired by a WW1 woman's weapons factory- they then spoke about what the different props could be used as like the tables as stages ect. Once we had been given all the information about our set and costume it then helped us as actors to be able to visualise the space we where working in and how we would be able to move, which helped me a lot personally because i found it then easier to try and in body my character.

We then had a talk about costume, and what we were going to wear and the TTA costume makers explained it was going to be very traditional WW1 style for the factory long dresses and some jump suits. Our hair should be up like this or similar - and what we are wearing resembles this-

TEXT

After the talk with TTA we then began working on the text. For a starting activity we all got into a circle scripts in hand and we were told to turn to the first prologue.
We all had to go round in the circle reading on line at a time this helped me to become more familiar with Shakespeare's words and the feel to this play. it also helped with my pronusation and clarity when speaking.

Then to give more intention behind the line and give it purpose and rhythm we had to hit the person next to us almost like pushing the line into them and the energy from the previous line carries into the next one.

And third we had to run into the space with our line straight after the person in front of us to create an energy and pace to what we were saying.

CHARACTER

In this part of the lesson we worked on Laban Movement Qualities :

This exserise was very useful to me in having an understanding of the way my characters moved. and i found that i could amidietly find out more about my character by using this tecnique we tried out all the different ways in moving and then had to esablish one for our charcter.

My choice for my factory worker was -

HISTORICAL CONTEXT

(I have not been to sure on how to create pages, so i am making this on 'Historical context' post and will be adding to it each week)

What sense do you get of what Elizabethan England was like?

The English Elizabethan Era is one of the interesting and renowned periods in the entire History of the country. Elizabethan England got its name from  the Queen Elizabeth I. Elizabethan England is famous for the Explorers, like Walter Raleigh. and Sir Francis Drake. It was hone to some the very first Theatres in England: William Shakespeare, the globe and Christopher Marlowe.
Food, clothes ,Entertainment, education, sports, music, language, we the culture of the era.

Life in Elizabethan England varied according to Class and where you were located in England there was far more wealth in London at this time because of its rich culture. A lot of what came into London was of foreign origin so its became far more valuable because it was not easily accessible, London was the hub for entertainment and fashion. London was very inspired but italian and french designers and so many of the trends where not English at all but in fact were the trends of allies so England. Life in the Era was very differed it was complelty dependent on the amout of wealth you had. The rich were rich and the poor were poor. It was the time of the Renaissance, completely new and exciting ideas in science and literature where being discovered and this had an effect on all aspects of Elizabethan Daily life.

Session 1:

In the first session we began to become more familiar with the play and get it up on its feet. We all got to know who was playing what character and established the structure of the play. The actor playing the appropriate role would stand up when it was there scene. And once we had gone through the scene we discussed it which was very useful because it help give us a further understanding to what was going on within the play. The read through was helpful because as strange as it sounds it was helpful to hear the voices of the actors playing the characters because it brought the characters to life. I only wish going in we knew what scenes we where doing so we could of already before school started, prepared a little more. But the run through was still useful, and for be playing henry it was interesting to see the different interpretations of henry by ella and jasmine it helped me understand the character more and gave me a view from someone else's eyes and something to think about. i made many discoveries about the character i was playing and his relationship with the other characters in the play when it was brought to life. it is always far easier to understand something when you hear it not only see it.
